Hey, this is what I've been working on-and-off this winter break--though I should have worked on other things I currently had in progress, heheh. I wish I had more time to color it though... Maybe sometime later on, whenever I have time for it.
Working on line quality again--and sure took me a while too. Fan art is good for practicing different techniques and tools, but I tell ya, I'm probably the worst when it comes to any fan art. I should just stick to original works, huh? I seriously need to draw more of my own characters, heheh.
As I quoted on a previous picture (Tenchu RFD SD
), "Wow, I don't think I've drawn so many characters on one page before..." But I think I've gone overboard this time...
This game is one of the best Marvel game adaptations yet, so I recommend a check out if you are interested.
I'm a kind of casual fan of Marvel's works, only owning a few preowned comics given to my by my cousin--old school comics, I might add... Like in the 1980's or so, but not old enough to make money off of I don't think, heheh. I really enjoy watching cartoon and movie adaptations though, and the comics really inspired me to drawing, even when I was little. As a kid, I'd always imagine working for Marvel, but I dunno if my work will never get to that level, heheh.
This is kind of a spoiler, showing my reaction to the story's ending as well as revealing all the playable characters in the game. So don't read on or even look closely at the picture if you don't want to spoil the game...
"... How dare they steal from Galactus!"-- I hope there is a sequel to this awesome game, heheh.
Bare with me now, the characters listed, from left to right and top to bottom, are (apologies in advance if they are not aligned right...):
- Sue Storm, a.k.a. The Invisible Woman
- Johnny Storm, a.k.a. The Human Torch
- Iron Man
- Silver Surfer
- Dr. Strange
- Ms. Marvel
- Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing
- Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic
- Spider Woman
- Colonel Nick Fury
- Luke Cage
- Captain America
- Ghost Rider
- Black Panther
Using not enough references, I know I drew a lot of the characters wrong, especially Galactus... And the Fantastic Four emerging from the wrong places of the Fantasticar... I'm horrible when it comes to fanart, I know...
Looking at this piece, lack of a good background is a downfall, as well as making some of the textures "too much", maybe? Like the dots used for the dust at the bottom... looks kind of like rock instead of dust, I dunno, it's probably just me...
With exception of Galactus (the big boss character in the back), all of the characters listed are playable hero characters for the game. I like to play as any of the characters (which is possible to arrange in a team of up to four characters at a time), but my favorite characters to play as are Wolverine, Spider Woman, The Thing, and Ghost Rider.
This game integrated both old with new and popular with unpopular characters very well, and I learned a lot about some characters I never even knew about, namely Dr. Strange, Ms. Marvel, and Luke Cage. Definitely an awesome game to play. I have the one for regular X-box, but the new generation systems get new playable characters like Colossus and Moon Knight.
Drawn in mechanical pencil, inked with various pens (Uni-ball Vision Elite, PILOT Razor Point II, and PILOT Fineliner) as well as a lil' India ink (I still have it since drawing class, might as well use it, heheh), straight linework with a clear plastic protractor, edited with an eraser and some BiC whiteout tape (yes, I'm that cheap...), murdered by scanner, and color converted in Adobe Photoshop CS.
If anyone wants to try their hand at coloring this piece, let me know. I have a super high-resolution, black and transparent .gif file that I can send to you. The file size is about 740KB, so it's not that big a file, I hope... It can always be resized and looks a lot better if it is resized after coloring--helped by the anti-aliasing in such programs like Photoshop.
